3 Things should be noticed when handling oilfield hoses

Oilfield hoses including Kelly hose, drilling hose, rotary hose, are reinforced by spiral wire and textile to provide high operating pressure like 15,000 psi. To reach this high pressure, reinforcement should be carefully handled when using or delivery. Crushing or kinking of hose will cause severe damage to reinforcement and dampen performances.

• Hose should be removed from its crate by hand, laid out in a straight line, then lifted by a catline attached near one end of the hose.
• Hoses assemblies must be lifted by the life eye clamps instead of clam and chain.
• Life eye clamps is a necessity to avoid hose kink damage.

In a word, reinforcement kinking or crushing should be resisted, for it will significantly decrease the life service time. Once the reinforcement is damaged, the working pressure can't reach the designed rate and occasional failures will happen.
